Broken Teeth and Lost Fillings or Crowns

If your tooth is broken or knocked out of its socket, we recommend that you call us right away to schedule treatment. Before seeing our dentist, however, there are things you can do to improve the likelihood of saving your tooth.

We recommend placing the broken pieces of a tooth in milk or Save-A-Tooth solution (available at most retail pharmacies). This solution or milk will help keep the tooth’s pieces alive so that our team can attempt to reattach them. If your tooth has been knocked out or is very loose, keep it in your tooth’s socket, if possible, and avoid touching it with your fingers or tongue.

socket, if possible, and avoid touching it with your fingers or tongue. If a filling or crown has been lost or broken, we can replace the filling or provide a temporary crown until a new custom restoration is made for you. If you still have your crown, it can be recemented to your tooth in some cases.

Toothaches and Abscesses

If you are experiencing severe discomfort from a toothache or abscess (a painful infection that forms on the gums near the roots of teeth), you may need a procedure such as root canal therapy to alleviate your discomfort. We recommend calling our team as soon as you can so that we can prepare for your visit and attempt to give you same-day treatment.

To manage discomfort, you can rinse your mouth with warm water and take over the counter pain medications.
